Lamar Montgomery

     ELLAVILLE, GA --- Mr. Duane Lamar Montgomery, Sr., age 66, of Ellaville, died early Friday morning, March 29, 2013 at his residence.  Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, April 1, 2013 at Ebenezer Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery.   Rev. Robert Orr, Rev. CJ Yarbrough, and Rev. Allen Scott will officiate. 

     Mr. Montgomery was born May 25, 1946 in Webster County, GA the son of the late Jessie Louise Castleberry Montgomery and the late Wayde Montgomery.  He was self employed building construction contractor.  Mr. Montgomery was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for the Peacemakers Class.

     Mr. Montgomery is survived by his wife, Shirley Montgomery; one son and daughter in law, Duane and Karen Montgomery of Ellaville, one brother and sister in law, John and Wanda Montgomery of Eatonton, GA; two grandchildren, Wayde Montgomery and Will Montgomery both of Ellaville.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

     Active pallbearers will include Darrell Holbrook, Tim Holbrook, Kelly Holbrook, Richard Brown, Virgil Howell, Shane Fripp, Steven Fripp, and Ralph Williams.  Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Ebenezer Baptist Church and the Peacemakers Sunday school class.

     Visitation will be held Saturday, March 30, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville, GA.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideons International, Americus Camp, P. O. Box 722, Americus, GA  31709.
