Mr. Aldon “Al” Rex Niver, affectionately known as “Camp”, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2016, at his residence. The family will receive friends at Watson-Tante Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00pm. The funeral service will be held at Thomas Poteet Funeral Home in Augusta, GA, in their chapel.
Mr. Niver was born in Newberry, MI, on March 30, 1929, to Raymond Howard and Sadie Caro Knapp Niver. He attended Curtis Baptist Church in Augusta and was a Korean War Veteran in the US Army. He had been employed by DuPont at the Savannah River Site in the Engineering Department. He was a member of the Martinez Masonic Lodge #710 and he loved to draw. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Lanier Niver, three brothers, Lisle H. Niver, Robert C. Niver, and Raymond H. Niver, Jr., two sisters, Margaret E. Niver and Eloise Niver, and his beloved dog, Lady.
Mr. Niver is survived by a son Lanny Niver of Cusseta, GA; a daughter and son –in-law, Elayne and James W. McGlaun, Jr. of Cusseta, GA; a sister-in-law, Joyce L. Jaksch; six grandchildren, Justin Wesley McGlaun (Kandice), Tabatha Niver Drummond (Chad), Dustin Niver, Nicholas Niver, Cody Laws and Daniel Runion; two great-grandchildren, Raylen E. McGlaun and Addison R. Barrs. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Watson-Tante Funeral Home is in charge of these arrangements.
