ELLAVILLE, GA --- Mr. Arthur S. Daniel III, age 77, of Ellaville, GA died early Wednesday morning, December 31, 2008 at his home. Funeral services will be held at Concord United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 2, 2009 with burial to follow in the Ellaville Cemetery. Rev. Graton Helms will officiate.
Mr. Daniel was born June 9, 1931 in Birmingham, Alabama, the son of Arthur S. Daniel Jr. and Elizabeth Camp Daniel. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 30 years of service. Mr. Daniel also owned Saturday Snacks for 43 years. He was a member of Concord United Methodist Church and had served in the Army Reserves.
Survivors include his wife, Penelope Wallace Daniel, two daughters, Cissy Morris of Ellaville, Mary Lou Littlefield and husband, Jimbo of Americus, GA; one son, Skeeter Daniel and wife, Sandra of Americus, GA; brother in law, Brad Wallace and wife, Jane of Sanford FL; and sister in law, Sally Willis and husband, Bobby of Old Fort NC. Also surviving are grandchildren, Michelle and Brandon Morgan, Dianne Littlefield, Ross Littlefield, Jake Littlefield, Davis Daniel, and Logan Daniel. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Active pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Concord United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 1, 2009 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Concord United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 22, Ellaville, GA 31806 or United Hospice, 708 E. 16th Ave., Cordele, GA 31015.
