Arthur David Evans, Sr.

Arthur David Evans Sr., a resident of Mauk, Georgia, affectionately known to family and friends as “grand pap” or “grand pap Evans” went home to our Lord Jesus Christ at the age of 84 on  Monday May 30th, 2016.

Arthur was the 4th child of Brant Evans and Sarah Engle born December 31st, 1931 at New Castle, Pennsylvania. His siblings include 2 brothers and 1 sister. Arthur enlisted in the United States Army as an Infantryman and served in the Korean War. Upon completion of his military service, he established a career as truck driver, working for Market Day. Arthur was known for the wittiness in his humor, for which he frequently greeted people. Arthur would ask “guess who I saw today,” and respond with “everyone I looked at” or “I know where you got those shoes”, and respond with “on your feet.”

Arthur was the proud patriarch of a large family. He is survived by his former wife Nancy Cresson and his name is carried through the fourth generation. His children include: Arthur Evans Jr. (Christina), Lucinda Payne (Jerry), Martin Evans (Cindy), Michael Evans Sr. (Debbie), Candace Hopkins (Danny), Terry Evans, Lisa LaFrance (Michael), and Alan Evans (Christi). He is the grandfather of 20 children, the great grandfather of 34 children, and the great-great grandfather of 1 child.

Arthur’s life will be celebrated by family and friends at Little Bethel Baptist Church in Ideal, Georgia on Friday June 3rd, 2016 beginning at 11:00 am. The service will be officiated by Brother Randy Harris.

“Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.”
