ELLAVILLE, GA --- Mr. Benny Lee Wilder, age 62, of 474 Calloway Drive, Ellaville, GA died Saturday, April 21, 2012 at his residence in Ellaville, GA after a thirteen year battle with ALS Disease . Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 2:00 PM April 24, 2012 at Ellaville United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Ellaville cemetery. Rev. Bryan Gerstel and Rev. Lowell Layman will officiate.

Mr. Wilder was born July 9, 1949 in Cuthbert, GA, the son of Ann Hobbs Wilder Nutt and Emmett Wilder. He served in the United States Army, worked 15 years with CSX Railroad as an engineer. Mr. Wilder also worked at Redmond Homes, Planters Hardware and Southeastern Pneumatic. He devoted much of his time to Schley County Middle/High School helping with softball and baseball and serving as a coach for the girls summer league softball at Southland in Americus. He was a member of the American Legion and a member of Ellaville United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Vicki Wilder of Ellaville, three daughters and one son in law, Le Anna Wilder, Mary Lynn Wilder, Ashley Barragan and husband Sam; three grandchildren, Katelyn Carney, Ryder Garner, and Cameron Wilder Barragan; two brothers, Donnie Wilder and wife Reba of Dublin, GA, Jimmy Wilder and wife Josie of Ellaville; two sisters, Diane Miller and husband Steve of Richland, GA., Dot Price of Terre Haute, ID. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents Mr. Wilder was preceded in death by one brother, Tommy Wilder.

Pallbearers will include Neil Snyder, Melvin Collins, Wayne Morrow, Jr., Ty Gill, Fred Dennis, Danny Minick and Gary Williamson. Mr. Wilder's grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held Monday, April 23 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home.
