Betty Poole Rohning

Mrs. Betty Wayne Poole Whittaker Rohning, 87, of Ellaville, passed away peacefully at her residence on February 15, 2024. Graveside services will be held in Ellaville City Cemetery on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 11:00 AM.  

Mrs. Rohning was born December 20, 1936 in Ellaville, Georgia to Tom and Ruth Snipes Poole.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Rohning. 

Mrs. Rohning obtained her R.N. nursing degree from Fresno State University in California while raising a family. She worked as an operating room nurse for many years in Merced, CA at Mercy Hospital, and later in Roseville, CA at Sutter Health Hospital. 

She loved gardening, traveling, and enjoying nature. She didn’t enjoy reading or scary movies, including E.T. 

She will be missed by her family and many friends she had developed in Meadow Vista, California where she shared a home with her belated husband, Ted, before she relocated to her family farm in Ellaville, GA.

Survivors include her son, Harrel Lee Whittaker of Clovis, CA, her daughter, Karen Whittaker Crowe and her husband, Tim of San Jose, CA; two brothers, Harrel Poole and his wife, Belinda and Donnie Poole and his wife, Deborah, both of Ellaville; grandsons, Zacary and Jackson Whittaker and 5 more grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
