Bobby Tondee

Mr. Robert “Bobby” Nelson Tondee 80, of Ellaville, GA, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2019, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. A graveside service will be held at 3:00PM on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, in the Ellaville Cemetery with Rev. Tom Davies and Rev. Haynes Martin officiating.  Pallbearers will include Johnny Wall, Neil Snider, Wayne Morrow Jr., Ty Gill, Wilbur Justice and Mickey Holloway.  The family will greet friends at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6:00 – 7:00 PM.

            Mr. Tondee was born in Schley County, GA, on October 5, 1939, to Clyde and Eunice Tondee. Mr. Tondee loved to work with his hands and always had a project going. He had retired as foreman at Greenfield Metal Products.  Mr. Tondee was very involved in his community having retired from the Ellaville-Schley County Fire and EMS Department, serving as Schley County Deputy Coroner, Boy Scouts of America leader, CPR instructor, EMT instructor, volunteering with the American Heart Association and the Gideons International (Americus Camp).  Mr. Tondee was also very active in his church, Ellaville United Methodist Church, serving as the chair of the Trustees, serving on the Pastor Parrish Relation committee and the nominating committee.  He also had served in the US Navy from 1956 to 1960.

            He is survived by his wife, Sara Tondee of Ellaville; his children, Judy Weathersby (Randy) of Ellaville, Beth Potter (Gene) of Hawkinsville, GA, Donnie Tondee (Kathy) of Ellaville, Nelson Tondee of Ellaville, GA; brothers, Clyde “Dickie” Tondee (Mary) of Tallahassee, FL, Jimmy Tondee of Ellaville, and Donald Tondee (Margaret) of Leesburg, GA.  Also surviving are  13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 1 great great child.

            In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ellaville United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 74, Ellaville, GA.
