Boyce Hanner

Aaron Boyce Hanner, 88, of Buena Vista, GA, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2016, at Gentiva Hospice in Columbus, GA.

Funeral services will be held at 11am on Thursday, May 19, 2016, at Buena Vista First Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Chandler officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Buena Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, from 6-8pm.

Mr. Hanner was born in Marion County, GA, on January 24, 1928, to Bessie P. and Alto Hanner, Sr. He was Baptist by faith and was a member of Buena Vista First Baptist Church. Mr. Hanner was previously the mayor of Buena Vista, GA, and was on the City Council as well as a volunteer firefighter and EMT. He had been employed at Home Depot as a P. R. Associate for over 16 years.  He was a member of the American Legion. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Francis Johnson, Alcene Hagler, Pearl Lowe Pearson, Alto Hanner, Jr., Averitt Hanner and Royce Hanner.

He is survived by his wife, Agnes L. Hanner of Buena Vista, GA; two daughters, Charlotte and David Goins and Harriet and Jeff Craft; by a brother, Cecil and Brenda Hanner; by five grandchildren, Joshua Goins, Annah Mitchell, Abigail Goins, Nicky Lickliter, and Clayton Miles; and by two great-grandchildren, Lilly Mitchell and Maggie Mitchell.

Watson-Tante Funeral Home of Buena Vista, Georgia, was in charge of these arrangements.
