Brenda Jane Mullis moved to her Heavenly home on Saturday March 1, 2025, at 5:18 am at Magnolia Manor of Marion County in Buena Vista, GA. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Cornerstone Church, 4680 Lexington Road, Athens, GA, 30605.
Brenda was the first New Year’s Baby born on January 1, 1950, in Athens, GA, to Hilda Porterfield and Joseph Jackson Mullis. Her hometown was Athens, GA, where she attended school at Athens High School and was a graduate of the University of Georgia with a Bachelor’s Degree in Child and Family Development. Brenda was also the Minster at Statham United Methodist Church and Providence United Methodist Church and was a Chaplain for several years.
Some of Brenda’s many other accomplishments were as follows, Certified Scuba Diver, In Home Daycare Owner, Volunteer CASA Worker, and Au Pair. She belonged to The Garden Club of Buena Vista, GA, and The Purple Hat Club. Brenda was also a member of Winterville United Methodist Church, Cornerstone Christian Church, Statham United Methodist Church and Buena Vista Baptist Church.
Brenda always loved learning, trying new things and going on adventures. She never met a stranger and would drop everything to help and show God’s goodness to others. She loved her family greatly especially her Grandchildren and great Grandchildren. She was the best Mema even to children that were not her own.
Brenda is survived by her four children, Kimberly D. (David) Dozier of Box Springs GA, Robert W. Welliver Jr. of Verona PA, Hans Eric (Michelle) Welliver of Perry, GA, and Jodi P. Welliver (Patrick) Braun of Forsyth, GA; thirteen grandchildren, Bethanie Dozier (Alex) Kelley, Leonard L. (Windy) Dozier V, Kimberly NM (Micheal) Braun Ballou, Zachary (Mary) Dozier, Tyler Matasich, Christian and Savannah Welliver, Kaleb Hill, Memori McFarland, Jessica Cassette, Chad Langston, Cooper and Hadley Braun; eight great-grandchildren, Theodore A Kelley, Leonard Lex Dozier VI, Eleanor Dozier, Penelope Dozier, Liam and Maverick Ballou, Brandon Dozier, Caden Matasich; a brother, Joseph J Mullis of Cleveland, GA; a sister, Candace Mullis Duffy Skeppstrom of Athens GA; two nieces, Ashley Mullis and Amber (Drew) Mullis Cantrell and Nephew Forrest W. Duffy; three great-nieces, Nevaeh and Magnolia Mullis and Kayann Cantrell; and two great-nephews, Kevin and Brad Cantrell.
The Family would like to say Thank You to all the Staff and Caregivers at Magnolia Manor in Buena Vista, GA. We were so blessed by your compassionate love and care of our dear Mother, and Family, through her battle with Alzheimer’s disease and at her passing.
