Charles Austin, Jr.

Mr. Charles Blanchard Austin, Jr., 81, of Buena Vista passed away on March 10, 2023 at his residence.  Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Union Draneville Church Cemetery with Rev. David Chapman officiating. The family will greet friends at Way-Watson Funeral Home in Buena Vista beginning at 9:30AM until 10:30AM.  Pallbearers will be Devon Tyson, Erron Austin, Eric Studdard, Shelley McKenzie, Bubba Culpepper, and Scott Benford. 

Mr. Austin was born September 17, 1941 in Cusseta, GA to Charles Blanchard Austin, Sr. and Mary Frances Culpepper Austin.  He was an avid gardener who enjoyed being outdoors and also raising cattle.  He worked for many years at C&W Cabinetworks and then retired from Oakcrest Lumber.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Faye McKenzie, George Amos Austin, and John Donald Austin.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 59 years, Martha Mae Austin of Buena Vista; his loving son, Charles Michael Austin of Buena Vista; two nephews, Shelley McKenzie and his wife Elizabeth of Gainesville, GA and Keith Austin and his wife Marion of Norway; and several other nieces and nephews and other family.
