Charles Franklin Wilson, 86, was a native North Carolinian who resided in Florida the last 34 years of his life. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Andersonville National Cemetery at 2:00 PM.  The family will greet friends at Way-Watson Funeral Home in Ellaville beginning at 12:00PM until 1:30PM with a procession to follow to Andersonville. 

He is pre-deceased by his father, Robert Lee Wilson Sr, his mother Effie Choplin Wilson Wright, his step-father Joseph Hansel Wright, three brothers Robert Lee Wilson Jr., Forest Jackson Wilson and Paul Leonard Wilson. 

He is survived by his wife Penelope Day Wilson, sons Charles Franklin Wilson Jr., Mark Anthony Wilson, Ronald Dean Wilson and Randal Leon Wilson, his daughters Penelope Leigh Wilson-Weaver, Connie Ann Elmore and step-daughter Tracey Alstead Barton Field, sister Daphne Greene Wright, 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

A highly respected member of the United States Air Force, Charles served honorably for 22 years, retiring as a Technical Sergeant in the Air National Guard. His commitment to his country and unwavering patriotism were deeply ingrained in his character. Beyond his military service, Charles was known for his honesty, loyalty, and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. His faith was a guiding force throughout his life.

Beyond his professional and familial life, Charles possessed a creative spirit, finding joy in writing song lyrics, a testament to his artistic soul. He also had a deep appreciation for history and family, dedicating his time to tracing his roots through genealogy. His beloved pets were always a source of comfort and companionship.

Charles will be remembered not only for his exemplary service and strong character but also for his gentle heart. His memory will be cherished by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
