Charlie Paul Highnote

Mr. Charlie Paul Highnote, 72, of Americus, GA passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville, GA.  Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Americus, GA.  Due to Covid-19, the use of face masks and social distancing is strongly encouraged.

Charlie Paul Highnote was born August 26, 1948 in Weston, GA to the late Guy Highnote and Verna Cooper Highnote. Most people called him Paul. A lot of those close to him emphatically called him Charlie P! Such emphasis was needed to capture the full character of who our father was. He lived hard, worked hard, and played hard. He loved racing; especially ole Awesome Bill from Dawsonville. He loved his beer; usually Budweiser but, as one of the photos I found of him at the Atlanta Motor Speedway suggests, he enjoyed some Milwaukee's Best from time to time as well. He loved his cowboy boots; especially the snake skin ones. He loved his Westerns. He loved professional wrestling. He LOVED them Dawgs! He loved his Dusty Butt and Kendall Butt as he always called us. He loved his oldest son Marty and his only daughter Misty. He even loved our sister Star that was not his own. He loved our two older brothers although he was not their father. He loved God; especially in his later years. HE LOVED.

He was not a perfect man, but he had a HUGE heart and just loved life. I believe that's why he fought so hard for so long. We almost lost him 4 years ago, but the Old Man never went down without a fight and miraculously pulled through. Even the night he passed, he fought a full 43 minutes after all life support was removed and managed to keep drawing breaths with lungs ravaged with COPD, COVID, and pneumonia. He was a fighter until the very end although Kendall and I told him he no longer had to fight while we held his hands as he drew his last breaths. I just feel blessed that we were able to be there with him.

That night was rough, but as the days go by we'll easily be able to remember him more and more as the man who so fully loved life. We've known it all along, but we now realize just how much we are our Father's Sons. We love you Dad, and we'll miss you greatly! However, we promise to make you even more proud and promise to go on loving life as much as you did because we know you wouldn’t have it any other way. Rest easy Daddy. We'll see you again one day!

Survivors include his four children, Marty Highnote and his wife, Heather of Americus, GA, Misty Jackson and her husband, David of Tennessee, Dusty Highnote and his wife, Michelle of Pataskala, OH, and Kendall Highnote and his wife, Meagan of Panama City, FL; a sister, Jean Wilson and her husband, John of Americus, GA; seven grandchildren, Chandler Highnote, Katie Highnote, Owen Jackson, Emmaleigh Welch, Alexander Welch, Sophia Welch, and Austin Raybon; a great-grandchild, Meredith; and several nieces and nephews.
