Christine Kirkland

       ELLAVILLE, GA --- Mrs. Christine Grimsley Kirkland, age 84, of Ellaville, GA died Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center.  Funeral services will be held at 4:30 PM Wednesday, September 18, 2013 in the chapel of Watson-Giddens Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Ellaville Cemetery.  Rev. Robert Orr will officiate. 

     Mrs. Kirkland was born April 3, 1929 in Marion County, GA the daughter of Henry and Rosa Lee Grimsley.  She was a seamstress and a member of New Liberty Freewill Baptist Church.

     Mrs. Kirkland is survived by one son, Ronnie L. Kidd and wife Eileen of Ellaville; one grandson, Todd Kidd and wife Pricilla of Richland, GA and great grandchild, Caitlin; one stepson, Jackie Merritt and wife Sonya of Chattanooga, TN; two brothers, Cecil Grimsley of Ellaville, Curtis Grimsley and wife Helen of Butler, GA; five sisters, Sara Lunsford and husband Perry of Ellaville, Jewel McDaniel of Ellaville, Thelma Thompson and husband Leon of Americus, GA, Bernice Powell and husband Gene of Leslie, GA, Myrtis Mason of Ladonia, AL; one step grandson, Chris Brown and one step great grandchild, Kaeden Brown. Mrs. Kirkland was preceded in death by husband, John C. Kirkland.

     Active pallbearers will include Duane Montgomery, Chad Childs, Doug Powell, Warren Grimsley, Markus Horne and Billy Joe Harris.

     Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 17, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville.
