Curtis R. Underwood

Ellaville, GA --- Mr. Curtis R. Underwood, age 39, of 138 Kelly Rd, Ellaville, died early Sunday morning, April 17, 2011 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, GA. Funeral services will be held graveside at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, April 19, 2011 in the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Bryan Bentley and Rev. Andy Taunton will officiate.
Mr. Underwood was born August 18, 1971 in Thomasville, GA, the son of Jackie Elza Carswell and the late Charlie Royce Underwood. He graduated from Tri-County High School in 1989 and was the co-owner of Bear Escort until his illness. Mr. Underwood was an avid Tennessee fan and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors, in addition to his mother include his wife, Kristy Duke Underwood, one daughter Brittany Underwood, one son, Kristopher Duke, one half sister, Cynthia Underwood Becker and husband Roger of Spring Valley, MN, half brother, Carl David Underwood of Spring Valley, MN. Aunts and Uncles, Hazel and Gerald Starling, of Columbus, GA and Linda and Steve Robinson of Punta Gorda, FL and life-long friend, Walter "Butch" Bridges of Columbus, GA also survive. Mr. Underwood was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Royce Underwood, stepfather James "Bubba" Carswell, and a half brother Chuckie Underwood.
Pallbearers will include Paul Tallman, Jr., Butch Bridges, Wes Duke, Randy Phillips, Mark Colone, Wade Tallman, Billy Veara and Mike Callier.
Visitation will be held Monday April 18, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville, GA.
