David Ralph Thompkins

Mr. David Ralph Thompkins, 62, of Buena Vista, GA, passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center. Graveside services will be held at Parmer Cemetery on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Clyde Grimsley officiating.  The family will greet friends on Friday, February 11, 2022 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Way-Watson Funeral Home in Buena Vista.

Mr. Thompkins was born in Americus, GA, on October 30, 1959, to Ralph Rodney and Rose Lee Pearson Thompkins.  He was retired from Stewart Detention Center. Mr. Thompkins enjoyed watching television and was an avid wrestling fan. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, Tatum and Jaxon. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Trudy Waters Thompkins, a sister, Joyce Russell, and his father-in-law, Aubry “Butch” Waters.

He is survived by three children, Tabatha T. Houston (Jason), Joshua Thompkins, and Casey Thompkins; by two grandchildren, Tatum Houston and Jaxon Houston; his brothers, Billy Thompkins (Rita), Paul and Thompkins (Robin); two sisters, Marynell Lewis and Margaret Tondee (Donald); and his mother-in-law, Ellen Waters.

Way-Watson Funeral Home, 1052 Dr. Deryl Hart Road, Buena Vista, Georgia has been entrusted with these arrangements.
