Dewey Rodney Simmons

Mr. Dewey Rodney Simmons, 78, of Buena Vista, GA, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Magnolia Manor of Marion County in Buena Vista, GA. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at Oakland Church of God with Rev. Terry Hudson officiating. The family will greet friends at Way-Watson Funeral Home at 10:00 AM until 10:45AM.

Mr. Simmons was born in Marion County, GA, on September 25, 1944, to Clyde Simmons and Virginia Moore Cobb. He enjoyed Coca-Cola and playing Bingo but he especially enjoyed flirting with the girls. Mr. Simmons loved Miss Kitty from “Gunsmoke” and had her pictures hanging in his room. He attended Oakland Church of God with his mother before her death.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Glenn H. Cobb, Sr., and his brother, Glenn H. Cobb, Jr.

He is survived by his sister, Deborah Simmons Dennard of Phenix City, AL; by his caretaker and cousin, Terry Hudson (Patti) of Butler, GA; and by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family.
