Dorothy Bass Heath

Dorothy “Dot” Louise Bass Heath, 74, of Ellaville passed away on January 2, 2021 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at 11:00AM in the Chapel of Way-Watson Funeral Home in Ellaville, Georgia with Rev. Jimmy Chapman officiating. Burial will be at 3:00PM at Block House Cemetery in Old Jacksonville, GA. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Monday, January 4, 2021, from 6:00-8:00PM.  

            Mrs. Heath was born December 8, 1946 in Crisp County, Georgia to Cyrus L. Bass and Thelma Johnson Herrington. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church but had been attending Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for several years.  Mrs. Heath was retired from the Bank of Ellaville after 37 years and Winn-Dixie for over 25 years.  She had a passion for decorating and loved to crochet and sew.  Mrs. Heath also loved watching Hallmark Christmas Movies.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Dawn Heath Pountious. 

            Survivors include her husband, Wayne Heath of Ellaville; two sons, Calvin Welch and his wife, Kim of Americus, GA and Michael Welch and his wife, Chris of Valatie, NY; two daughters, Millette Holcombe and her husband, Joe of Dawsonville, GA and Ginny Heath Lamb of Ellaville; nine grandchildren, Kyle Welch, Tyler Welch, Charla Ayers (Caleb), Lesli Zimmerman (Andrew), Cameron Barley, Richard Vaughn, Kristina Ferguson, Kimberly Duncan (Eric), and James Ferguson; five great-grandchildren, Silas, Ansley, Krisa, Elijah, and Kaisen; two sisters, Katie Pope (Roger) and Janie Herrington, both of Tallapoosa, GA.
