Dr. Kenneth Mauldin

ELLAVILLE, GA --- Dr. Kenneth Carlisle Mauldin, age 78, of Ellaville died Sunday, June 17, 2012 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, Americus, GA Wednesday June 20, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Rev. Charles Stoops and Rev. Steve Poteat will officiate. The family will receive friends at Ellaville Baptist Church in Ellaville on Tuesday, June 19 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Dr. Mauldin was born September 4, 1933 in Fairfield, AL, the son of Ruth Carlisle Mauldin and Lee A. Mauldin. Dr. Mauldin lettered in football and baseball at Auburn University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1955. He received his Masters of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX in 1967 and his Doctorate of Theology from Clarksville Baptist Theological Seminary in 1979. Dr. Mauldin was a pastor in a number of churches in Texas, Alabama, and Georgia and also served on many short term mission trips throughout North America and internationally. He and his wife served ten years in Guyana with the International Mission Board as missionaries. He was a former trustee of Shorter University, served one term as chaplain of the Georgia State Senate, was a certified police officer and chaplain with the Lagrange Police Department and was currently serving as pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Butler, GA. He enjoyed sports and for many years umpired high school baseball, industrial and church league softball and officiated high school football in Georgia and Alabama.

Dr. Mauldin is survived by his wife, Christine Mauldin; three sons and daughters in law, Randy Mauldin and wife Sue of Columbus, GA, Rusty Mauldin and wife Michele of Americus, GA, Ron Mauldin and wife Cindy of Canton, GA; one sister, Carol McMartin of Nevada. Nine grandchildren Kacy Mauldin, Kelsey Appleby and husband Tre', Richard Miles Mauldin, Bryan Mauldin, Shaun Paperd, Kayla Mauldin, Zachary Mauldin, Rachael Mauldin, and Carissa Mauldin also survive.
