Elaine Baker

Mildred Elaine Grissom Baker, 67, of Cusseta, Georgia, died Tuesday, August 9, 2011.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday, August 21, 2011, at Cusseta First Baptist Church with Reverend Mark Hudson and James Morton officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon from 4-6 PM.

Mrs. Baker was born August 26, 1943, in Cusseta, GA, to William Bartlett and Mildred Anna Kemp Grissom. She retired from the Medical Center after 39 years as the secretary for the Chief of Pediatrics. A life long resident of Cusseta, she was a member of Cusseta First Baptist Church. She loved her family and was dedicated to her grandchildren. She was a volunteer for the Children's Network. She was a part of the training team for the Education Department at the Medical Center.

She is survived by two daughters, Candace B. and Christopher Jewell and Christina Baker Nwadeyi all of Cusseta, GA; a sister, Betty Jean Jordan of Americus, GA; and three grandchildren, Anna Mae Jewell, Harold Nwadeyi and Shawn Jewell. She was preceded in death by her parents and by a sister, Christie Faye Grissom.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cusseta-Chattahoochee County Fire Department, PO Box 146, Cusseta, Georgia, 31805.
