Elizabeth Rustin

Mrs. Ellen Elizabeth Foster Rustin, 85, of Buena Vista passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at her residence.  Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church at 10:00AM with Bro. Troy Fripp officiating. Pallbearers will be Gary Powell, Chris Spann, Robert Wells, Robert Rustin, and Dennis Hutto.  Those who wish may visit with Mrs. Rustin at Way-Watson Funeral Home on Monday, August 23, 2021 from 2:00-6:00 PM.

Mrs. Rustin was born in Marion County, GA on July 9, 1936. She was a 1954 graduate of Talbot County High School.  Mrs. Rustin was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.  She worked in the Marion County school system as well as a substitute teacher at Tri-County High School as a substitute teacher.  Mrs. Rustin devoted her life to her family, and was always there to help when needed.  An excellent cook, she would feed anybody that was around at meal time.  Her homemade biscuits knew how to draw a crowd and she enjoyed working in her yard in earlier years. As her health declined, she was blessed with excellent caregivers, Mary West, Kathy Tondee and Donna Layfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Odessa Franklin and Woodie Foster; her husband, Johnnie B. Rustin; a granddaughter, Amanda Castleberry; and a sister, Connie Helms.

Survivors include her son, Ray Rustin and his wife Darlene of Buena Vista, GA; three daughters, Ellen Willis and her husband, Edwin of Ellaville, Sally Hagler and her husband, Charles of Buena Vista, and Susan Mathews of Buena Vista; six grandchildren, Colby Rustin (Kristy) of Buena Vista, Crystal Drew (Matt) of Buena Vista, Randal Welch (Crystal) of Ellaville, Meredith Bryan (Adam) of Fortson, GA, Devan Hagler (Tyler Croft) of St. Simons Island, GA, and Bryan Willis (Ashley) of Ellaville; eight great-grandchildren, Dunlie Castleberry, Coleton Drew, Evie Welch, Katilyn Elizabeth Rustin, Mallory Rustin, Jayce Bryan, Mikayla Willis, and Wyatt Woodham; two sisters, Martha Hutto of Columbus, GA, and Sandra Allen (Larry) of Millen, GA; two brothers, Kelley Foster (Pat) of Butler, GA and Terry Franklin (Sheila) of Senoia, GA; a sister-in-law, Carrie Rustin of Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
