Ethel Ione Miller

ELLAVILLE, GA --Mrs. Ethel Ione Hunnicutt Miller, age 93 of 2001 South Lee Street, Americus, GA, went to be with the Lord, on Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA. Funeral service to celebrate the gift of her life will be held Saturday, November 20, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Ellaville United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Ellaville Cemetery. Reverend Joy Wilson, Reverend Robert Poston, and Reverend Dennis Stalvey will officiate.
Mrs. Miller was born April 1, 1917, in Macon, GA. She was the daughter of James Clifford Hunnicutt and Mildred Rebecca DuPree Hunnicutt. Mrs. Miller was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and homemaker. She was an active member of Ellaville United Methodist Church. Mrs. Miller had worked for DF&CS, made home visits, and was very active in the Ellaville Senior Citizen Center. Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her first husband, Mr. Jesse R. Miller, and her second husband, Mr. Milton Newton.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-laws: Rebecca and Steve Gurr of Gainesville, GA; Joy and Carlton Wilson of Ellaville, GA; and Iris and Joel Archer of Macon, GA. Nine grandchildren include Frank and Kathy Freeman, Matt and Melani Freeman, Stephen and Jeanette Gurr, Christopher Gurr, Robin and Brian Hall, Amanda and Jeff Register, Tom and Lareine Archer, Drew and Lindsey Archer, and Rebecca and Robert Bowers. Ten great-grandchildren also survive.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, November 19, 2010, at the Retirement Center of Magnolia Manor on the Section 3 Sun Porch, and from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville, GA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Covenant Care Services, 3950 Ridge Avenue, Macon, GA 31210, or to The League of the Good Samaritan, 2001 South Lee St., Americus, GA 31709; or to Ellaville United Methodist Church, P.
