Ethelyne Joyner Pirkle

ELLAVILLE, GA --- Mrs. Ethelyne Joyner Pirkle, age 74, of 409 Shiloh Rd, Ellaville, GA died, Sunday, September 20, 2009. Funeral Services will be held in the chapel of Watson-Giddens Funeral Home, 3:00 PM, Wednesday, September 23, 2009 with burial to follow in the Ellaville Cemetery. Rev. Greg Kirk will officiate.
Mrs. Pirkle was born June 9, 1935 in Fort Valley, GA, the daughter of Willie and Ethel Joyner. She had worked at Bluebird Bus Company in Fort Valley, Manhattan Shirt Company in Americus, GA and Cooper Lighting in Ellaville. Mrs. Pirkle was an avid quilter a member of Brooklyn Heights Baptist Church.
Mrs. Pirkle was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Pirkle, Sr. Survivors include one daughter and son in law, JoAnn Sheridan and husband Fred of Smithville, GA; two sons and daughters in laws, Billy Pirkle, Jr. and wife Terri of Windsor, CO, Tony Pirkle and wife Robynne of Blairsville, GA; one sister and brother in law, Rubye Goodlett and husband Jimmy of Columbus, GA; and one sister, Willie Mae Elkins of Marshallville, GA. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Nicholas Sheridan, Christopher Sheridan, Jennifer Sheridan, Kristi Sheridan, Courtney Pirkle, Whitney Pirkle, Joshua Pirkle, Hannah Pirkle and one great grandchild, Cohen Pirkle.
Active pallbearers will be Nicholas Sherdian, Chris Sheridan, Josh Pirkle, Truett Pirkle, Don Pirkle, Bob Pirkle, Chip Horne and Jimmy Yarborough. Honorary pallbearers will be Virgil Howell and James Carpenter.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 22, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville.
