Mr. Freeman Foster, 91, of Mauk, GA, passed away at his residence on Sunday, March 6, 2016.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at Ft. Perry Baptist Church with Rev. Gene Rosinbaum and Brother Mike Toomey officiating. The family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to the service beginning at 2:00PM. Serving as active pallbearers will be Ryan Foster, Wayne Ledbetter, Jason Watson, Ashston Albert White, Don Watson, Jr., Thomas Prince, and Jerry Anthony. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons Board of Fort Perry Baptist Church. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
Mr. Foster was born September 4, 1924, in Marion County, GA, to Lucius Roswell and Annie Jewel Jones Foster. He was a member of Ft. Perry Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for 53 years. Mr. Foster worked as a machinist until 1974, when he became owner of Hamilton Road Barbecue in Columbus, GA. He ran the restaurant for 21 years, during which time he received several Reader’s Choice awards for having the best barbecue/Brunswick stew in Columbus. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Wayron Foster, Rainy Foster, and Gilbert Foster, and by his sisters Ruby Harbuck and Jewell Simpson.
Mr. Foster is survived by his wife, Mrs. Doris Foster of Mauk, GA; a son, Jerry Freeman Foster (Willene Borum) of Mauk, GA; two daughters, Carolyn McClung of Columbus, GA, and Brenda Watson (James) of Box Springs, GA; Grandchildren, Shane McClung (Linda), Scott McClung (Christine), Crystal White, Ryan Foster, Jason Watson(Sheri), Don Watson, Jr. (Rhonda); Step-Grandchildren, Greg Watson, Windi Watson, and Thomas Prince; Great-Grandchildren, Jake McClung, Ashley Hagler, Ashston Albert, Addison White, Jordan Watson, Joshua Watson, and Trinity Watson; Step-Great-Grandchildren, Cody Toland, Blake Toland, and Joseph Toland; Great-Great Granddaughter, Charlotte Grace Hagler.
The family wishes to express appreciations for special friends and caregivers: Tika Schorr-Morrison, Joyce Clark, Ann Loggins, Rebecca Prince, Janie Ledbetter, Ruth Whitley (deceased), and all the staff/employees of Gentiva Hospice. Last, but not least, we are so thankful for the awesome medical care given by Dr. George Shannon and Dr. Mary Simpson for over 30 years!
