George Rayford Halstead

    ELLAVILLE, GA --- Mr. George Rayford Halstead, age 68, of Oglethorpe, GA died early Monday morning, September 5, 2016.  A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at County Line Baptist Church Cemetery.  Bro. Troy Fripp will officiate. 

     Mr. Halstead was born February 17, 1948 in Schley County, GA, the son of Charles and Fannie Halstead.  He was retired from Macon Power, where he was employed as an electrician. Mr. Halstead was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed hunting.  He was of the Baptist faith.

     Mr. Halstead is survived by two sons, Mark Halstead of Ellaville, Rodney Halstead and wife Teresa of Ellaville; one daughter, Mandy Gladden of Macon, GA;  two sisters, Rachel Ruhland of Ellaville, Rosemary Cope and husband, Craig of Ellaville. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Chasatie Halstead, Hope Halstead, Josh Halstead, Wyatt Halstead, Lily Gladden, Jamone Drakus, Noah Gladden and closest friends, George Fowler and Sara "Chuck" Clark.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Halstead was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Candy Walker.  

     Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 6 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville, GA.
