George Welch

Mr. Earnest George Welch, 58, of Buena Vista, GA, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2021, at Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown.  A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00AM at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, with Rev. Raymond Smith and Rev. Jim Cox officiating.  Family and friends may visit with Mr. Welch at Way-Watson Funeral Home in Buena Vista on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, from 1:00-5:00PM. Due to Covid-19, face coverings are strongly encouraged and please practice social distancing.

Mr. Welch was born in Richland, GA, on March 17, 1962, to Ernest and Betty Taylor Welch.  He was self-employed as a Log Truck driver and a farmer.  Mr. Welch was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed having BBQs for the family.  An avid farmer, he loved riding his mule and working his cows. 

He is survived by his fiancé Edwina Watford of Buena Vista, GA; by two step-sons, Richard Bartley and Michael and Stephanie Bartley all of Phenix City, AL; by a brother, William and Irene Wright of Andersonville, GA; by a sister, Patty Swack of Buena Vista, GA; by grandchildren, Raven Bartley, Cody Bartley, Maxwell Bartley, Summer Starling. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
