Grace M. Camp

Mrs. Grace Luverne Mathis Camp, 94, of Weston, GA, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2022, at her home. A graveside service will be held at 10:00AM on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at Weston Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Raymond Smith officiating. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Camp was born in Stewart County, GA, on February 3, 1928, to the late Hazel Martin Mathis and Brooks Johnston Mathis, Sr. She retired as the Weston Postmaster and had been the bookkeeper for Canyon Woods Forestry, Lumpkin, GA, for many years. Mrs. Camp was the last surviving member of the Stewart County Class of 1945 and was a member of the Weston Baptist Church. She enjoyed being outdoors, watching wildlife and riding her John Deere lawnmower to cut her grass. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Camp, her brothers, Brooks Johnston, Jr. and Walter Clark Mathis.

She is survived by her children, Linda Sue Johnston (Jim), Janice Bearden, George Jones, Jr. (Wynona) all of Webster County, GA and Carolyn Royal (Mark) of Stockbridge, GA; by her grandchildren, Susan Norton (Donnie), James Johnston, Jr., James Bearden, Jr., Lori Wurtz (Matt), Wyatt Jones, Jr. (Jessica), Vann Jones (Carla), A. J. Jones (Kayla), Mark T. Royal (Lauren),  and Mallory Royal (Jesse); 14 great-grandchildren and her sister-in-law, Nancy Mathis of Cordele, GA. Several cousins and nephews also survive.
