Grace O. Theus

Ellaville, GA --- Mrs. Grace O. Theus, age 90, of Ellaville, died Monday evening, January 24, 2011 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, GA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Ellaville Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Ellaville Cemetery. Dr. Ben Foxworth and Rev. John Mark Carpenter will officiate.
Mrs. Theus was born February 21, 1920 in Marion County, GA, the daughter of Dorothy Key Owens and David Owens. She retired from Manhattan Shirt Factory having worked there from age 17 to age 65. Mrs. Theus was a member of Ellaville Baptist Church for over 72 years where she was a member of the Lydia Sunday School class, the Joy Club and the Mission Action Group.
Survivors include two daughters and son in law, Sue and Bob Martin of Buford, GA, Becky Theus of Ellaville; two brothers and sisters in law, Alvin and Erma Owens of Montgomery, AL, James and Mary Owens of Charlotte, NC; two sisters and brothers in law, Frances and Herbert Moon of Americus, GA, Louise and Billy Mulkey of Tucker, GA; one brother in law, Role Bradley of Tallahassee, FL, grandchildren, Brittany Ellis of Ellaville, Sidney and Cindy Theus of Duluth, GA, Chris and Shannon Theus of Gainesville, GA, Dawn and Barry Peeples of Dacula, GA, Scott Martin of Boise ID, Debbie and Greg Smith of Powder Springs, GA, and Sheila Martin of Pensacola, FL. Mrs. Theus is also survived by fifteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and her extended family, Carol Sue Devane, Shirley Watson and all of her beloved church family. She was preceded in death by her son, Wallace Harold Theus and a sister, Virginia Bradley.
Active pallbearers will include Sidney Theus, Chris Theus, Mark Walls, Josh Theus, Larry Pevler, and Barry Peeples. Honorary pallbearers will include Mike Theus, Scott Martin, Bob Martin, Ryan Theus and the Lydia Sunday School class.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 26, 2011 from 5:00 to 7:00PM at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville, GA.
