Howard Lamar Greene

       ELLAVILLE, GA --- Mr. Howard Lamar Greene, age 78, of Ellaville, GA died late Tuesday evening, October 29, 2013 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center.  Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, November 1, 2013 at Andersonville United Methodist Church with burial to follow in Andersonville National Cemetery.   Rev. Gil Tripp will officiate.

      Mr. Greene was born in Schley County on October 27, 1935.  He was the son of Howard Joseph Greene and Annie Belle Justice Greene.  Mr. Greene was a retired farmer and real estate agent.  He was an Army veteran, having served during the Korean conflict.  Mr. Greene attended Andersonville United Methodist Church.

    Survivors include his wife, Fay Walton Greene; one son and daughter in law, Garry and Sandra Greene of Ellaville; one daughter and son in law, Kathy and Gary Christmas of Americus, GA; and one sister, Margaret Richardson of Ozark, AL.   Also surviving are four grandchildren, Kevin Greene, Jennifer Edwards and husband Nick, Anna Bishop and Natalie Christmas. Three great grandchildren, Landen Styck, Gabe Styck and Jayden Bishop also survive.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Greene was preceded in death by one brother, Aubrey Greene, and two nephews, Edwin Greene and Darrell Richardson.

    Pallbearers will include Jimmy Greene, Carl Adams, Pepper Greene, Mike McClendon, Hugh Wall, and Bill St. John.  Honorary pallbearers will include Mark Jones, Mike Trayer, Ken Starling, Shaye Brooks and Chad.    Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville, GA.
