Iris Johnson

ELLAVILLE, GA --- Mrs. Iris Robinson Johnson, age 89, of Ellaville, GA died Monday, July 21, 2008 at Montezuma Health Care Center in Montezuma, GA. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 10:00 AM in the Ellaville Cemetery, with Rev. Ben Foxworth and Rev. Tommy McConnell officiating.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Schley County on March 28, 1919, the daughter of John Emmett Robinson and Mary Alice Robinson. She was a homemaker. In years passed, Mrs. Johnson had run the American Legion Swimming Pool and had driven students to school in a county owned station wagon. She was a member of Ellaville Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Erlene Welch; one granddaughter, Jan Williams and husband Herb of Ellaville; one grandson, Bill Welch and wife Brenda of Ellaville. Also surviving are eight great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Johnson and a son in law, Billy Welch.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville, GA.
