James Daniel Cook

James Daniel Cook, 64, of Box Springs, GA, passed from life to eternal life on Sunday, April 22, 2012, at Vista Care Hospice at Franciscan Woods in Columbus, GA.

Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Watson-Tante Funeral Home on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 2:00PM with Rev. Danny Hutto and Rev. Marlin Hartley officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Cook Family Cemetery in Box Springs, GA. Serving as active pallbearers are John Eldridge, Jeff Eldridge, Marshall Britt, Jake Britt, David Forsyth, and Steve Catrett. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Earl Miller, James Earl Miller, Warren Teate and Thomas Brown. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

Mr. Cook was born October 24, 1947, in Marianna, FL, to Jake Russell and Minnie Blanche Ricks Cook. He attended Living Vision Out Reach Church in Box Springs where he was head deacon. He had been living in the area since 1995, coming from Waverly Hall, GA. He had been employed as Deputy Warden at Harris County Prison. He was preceded in death by his father, Jake Russell Cook, a son, Christopher Lee Cook, and a daughter, Melinda Kaye Cook.

In addition to his mother, Minnie Cook, he is survived by his wife, Gale Cook of Box Springs, GA; by three daughters, Cindy and Earl Miller of Waverly Hall, GA, Gina and Warren Teate of Box Springs, GA, and Christy and Thomas Brown of Woodbury, GA; by a brother, Kenneth and Pam Cook of Perry, GA; and by a sister Brenda and Tom Britt of Waverly Hall, GA. Four Grandchildren, James Earl Miller, Melanie Teate, Cameron Teate, and Christian Brown also survive.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Living Vision Out Reach Church, 1649 Pineknot Road, Box Springs, GA, 31801.

Watson-Tante Funeral Home of Buena Vista, Georgia, was in charge of these arrangements.
