James Ray Gregory, Sr.

ELLAVILLE, GA – James Ray Gregory, Sr., age 78, of Ellaville, GA passed away at Magnolia Manor in Americus on June 23, 2020.  A graveside memorial service will be held in Oak Grove Cemetery at 10:00AM Saturday, June 27, 2020. 

Mr. Gregory was born January 30, 1942 in Colquitt County, Georgia to the late James Allison Gregory and Claire Kathleen Brumlow Gregory. He retired after 30 years from the maintenance department at Georgia Southwestern University.  He enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves, NASCAR, and the Georgia Bulldog football.  Mr. Gregory had played for the Moultrie Packers High School football team..  He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Ruth Gregory and sister, Eunice Boatwright.

Survivors include and a brother, Wayne Gregory of Doerun, GA; three sons, Matthew Murphy and his wife, Tina of Ellaville, GA, Jamie Gregory and his wife Kristy of Ellaville, GA, Joseph Gregory of Aiken, SC; and daughter, Brenda Dukes of Baconton, GA;. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, Jennifer, Bobby, Kimberly, Emily, Jaymeson, Rusty, Renee, Christopher, Ashleigh, Bradley; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
