James F. Lewis, Jr.

James F. Lewis, 85 of 432 Ft. Perry Rd., Box Springs, GA passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2013.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Watson-Tante Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Chandler officiating.  The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Pallbearers will be Tony Harris, Brian Page, Matthew Lance, Hunter Lance, Carlos Lewis, Cody Lance and Jonathan Lewis.

Mr. Lewis was born August 3, 1928 to the late James Franklin Lewis, Sr. and Rosa Driggers Lewis in Tifton, Georgia.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was retired as a civil engineer with Everett Construction and farming. Mr. Lewis was of the Baptist faith.  He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing.  Mr. Lewis also loved animals and playing his fiddle.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Bernice Cumming and Agnes Cumming. 

Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Ruby Lewis of Box Springs, GA; four sons, J. Danny Lewis and his wife, Anita of Mauk, GA, Carlos F. Lewis and his wife, Barbara of Columbus, GA, Jimmy R. Lewis and his wife, Jennifer of Box Springs, GA and Ricky R. Lewis and his wife, Mary of Box Springs, GA; nine grandchildren, Robby D. Lewis, Jessica N. Sloan and husband, Ryan, Amanda M. Wilder and husband, Joseph, Brittany M. Barrs and husband Thomas, Emily Guess and husband, Aaron, Cody Lance, Matthew Lance and wife, Ashley, Hunter Lance and Caleb Stone; five great-grandchildren, Jonathan Lewis, Caleb Lewis, Cadie Lewis, Emily Hurst and Emma Wilder; a sister, Versie Reiner of Macon, GA; and several nieces and nephews.

Watson-Tante Funeral Home of Buena Vista, Georgia, is in charge of these arrangements.
