James Thomas Peavy, 84, of Buena Vista, Georgia passed away peacefully in hospice care on May 3rd, 2018 in Americus, Georgia. Mr. Peavy was born in Coleman, Florida on September 1, 1933. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served for 21 years, including service in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. During his time in the military he met and married the love of his life, Beverly Gonzales (deceased, 2015), on December 5, 1953. After his military service, he lived in several places, including Nevada, Florida and Louisiana, moving to Buena Vista in 2008.
Mr. Peavy was skilled in many areas, including carpentry, automobile repair and cooking. He loved to fish, work in his yard and to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Peavy is survived by his son, Samuel and daughter-in-law Julie of Americus and his daughter Rebecca Peavy Pope of Covington, Kentucky. He has two grandchildren, Joseph Pope and Gracelynn Bien and her husband Michael and three great-grandchildren, Isabella, MJ and Nelly, all of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Watson-Tante Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
