James Anthony Perkins

Mr. James Anthony “Tony” Perkins, 61, of Buena Vista, GA, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025, at his residence. A memorial service will be held at a later date. 

Mr. Perkins was born in Jesup, GA, on January 28, 1964, to Joyce Landon Kelly and James Brantly Perkins, Jr. He grew up on a tobacco farm and learned the ins and outs of farming and gardening. Mr. Perkins loved to work with plants and watch them grow. A jack of all trades, he loved building and assembling projects. He was very smart and an accomplished welder. He worked construction until his retirement. Mr. Perkins loved riding dirt roads, hunting, and fishing. The most important thing to him was raising his daughter and taking care of his mother. Mr. Perkins was fun to be around and loved listening to rock-n-roll music. The last two months were the happiest he had been in a long time. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cindy Dent Perkins, by his father, James Brantly Perkins, Jr., by his step-father, Hugh W. Kelly, by his maternal grandparents, Charles and Eddis Landon, and by his paternal grandparents, Shirley Waddell and J. B. Perkins all of Jesup, GA. 

He is survived by his daughter, Brooklyn Perkins and his mother Joyce Kelly, both of Buena Vista, GA; by two sisters, Angie Perkins of Jesup, GA, and Crissy of South Carolina; by his aunt, Tina and Matt Murphy of Ellaville, GA; by his uncle, Jerry and Judy Landon of Jesup, GA; by his friends, Mary Whitley and Joe Stephens; and his extended family.
