James Patrick Smith

Mr. James Patrick Smith, 62, of Ellaville, passed away peacefully at his home on December 26, 2023.  Graveside services will be held in Ellaville City Cemetery on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at 2:00 PM with visitation to be held at Way-Watson Funeral Home from 1:00 – 1:45PM with a procession to follow to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steven Smith, Casey Smith, Ty Smith, Rick Smith, Mike Smith and Andy Kuipers.

Mr. Smith was born February 20, 1961 in Wichita Falls, TX to Jimmy Lee and Joyce McDonald Smith.  He was a 1980 graduate of Mullen High School in Mullen, Idaho and then joined the U.S. Army where he served for 4 years.  Mr. Smith enjoyed hunting, fishing, cars and traveling.  He was also an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, GA Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves.  In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Ann Smith and a sister, Patricia Gendrow.

Survivors include his children, Steven Smith of Americus, Brittany Wilson and her husband, Shane of Americus, Casey Smith of Ellaville, Ty Smith of Ellaville, and Shiann Smith of Ellaville; two grandchildren, Ansley Smith and Taylor Wilson; his mother, Joyce Smith of Idaho; three brothers, David Smith, Rick Smith and his wife, Kristie and Mike Smith and his wife, Jeri Lynn, all of Idaho; and several nieces and nephews. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the United Service Organization at secure.uso.org or to the Georgia Wildlife Conservation Fund at gooutdoorsgeorgia.org
