Jean Shutters

     ELLAVILLE, GA --- Mrs. Lou Jean Shutters, age 74, of 213 Lasco Harvey Road, Americus, GA died Thursday, August 22, 2013 at her residence.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, August 26, 2013 in the chapel of Watson-Giddens Funeral home with a private family burial to follow in Andersonville National Cemetery.  Rev. Troy Fripp will officiate. 

      Mrs. Shutters was born February 11, 1939 in Norman Park, GA, the daughter of Brunell Smith Spradley of Cordele, GA and the late Madison Dillard Spradley.  She was a homemaker and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

     Survivors in addition to her mother include two daughters, Michelle Joiner and husband Don of Oglethorpe, GA, Liza Sabatka and husband Rick of Chicago, IL; three sons, Danny Curles of Cobb GA, Randy Curles and wife Donna of Tifton, GA, Allen Shutters and wife Rachel of Americus, GA; one brother, Paul Spradley of Cordele, GA; and one sister Judy Waters and husband Bobby of Mulberry FL.  Mrs. Shutters is also survived by nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.  In addition to her father Mrs. Shutters was preceded in death by her husband, William Raymond Shutters, a brother, Robert Spradley, a son, Gilbert Madison Shutters and a grandson, Shane Curles.

      Active pallbearers will be Sunshine Curles, Tommy Kendrick, Corey Curles, Mathew Curles, Jeremy Ellenberg, and Alex Sabatka.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Law, Chris Perry, Mark Shutters, Bill Harbuck, Daniel Curles and Mike Kendrick.

        Visitation will be held Sunday, August 25, 2013 from 4:00 until 6:00 PM at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to United Hospice of Cordele, 708 E. 16^th Street, Cordele, GA  31015 or the American Cancer Society,     P. O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
