Jeanette Peede

       ELLAVILLE, GA --- Mrs. Jeanette Halstead Peede, age 87, of Ellaville, GA died Friday, April 25, 2014 at Perfect Care in Americus, GA.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, April 28, 2014 at Ellaville United Methodist Church with crypt side service to follow in the Ellaville Mausoleum.  Rev. Brooks Partain and Rev. Lowell Layman will officiate. 

     Mrs. Peede was born December 27, 1926 in Macon County, GA the daughter of Carl Halstead and Vera James Halstead.  She was retired from the Georgia Department of Family and Children Services where she had served as District Director.  Mrs. Peede was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a Grand Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 191, a member of the Rainbow Garden Club, a member of the Bridge Club and attended the Schley Senior Center.  She was also a member of Ellaville United Methodist Church.  Mrs. Peede had served three terms as mayor of Ellaville from 1985 to 1991.

     Mrs. Peede is survived by one son, Carl Peede and wife Starr of Atlanta, GA; two daughters, Cindy Welch and husband Bump of Tazewell, GA, Susan Ellis and husband Roy Lynn of Ellaville; one sister, Myrtis Akins and husband Donald Wayne of Statesboro, GA; seven grandchildren, Will Sellars and wife Molly, Mike Sellars, Ryan Peede and wife Amanda, Janna Kepner and husband Nate, Leah Clark and husband Jack, Colby Ellis and wife Andrea, and Cameron Peede.  Also surviving are eleven great grandchildren a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Peede was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Peede.

     Active pallbearers will include Will Sellars, Mike Sellars, Ryan Peede, Nate Kepner, Jack Clark, Colby Ellis, Cameron Peede and Brett Sellars.

     Visitation will be held Sunday, April 27, 2014 from 4:00 until 6:00 PM at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville.
