Jerry Ellyn Jones

Mr. Jerry Ellyn Jones of Preston, GA passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2022, at The Fellowship Home at Cotton Hill in Cuthbert, GA. A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00AM on Monday, August 1, 2022, at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Robert Orr officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Roberts, Codey Weaver, Ty Harry, Matthew Burks, Caleb Stephens, John Redmond, and A. J. Jones. The Family will be meeting at 2954 Macedonia Church Road in Preston for friends and family to stop by.

Mr. Jones was born March 10, 1943, in Cuthbert, GA, to David Ross Jones, Jr. and Ellie Stapleton Jones. A member of Macedonia Baptist Church he never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face. He loved farming, cows and hogs and was the owner and operator of J. E. Jones Farms. Mr. Jones enjoyed driving his tractor and enjoyed working on John Deere tractors. He was a good mechanic.  He also enjoyed dancing, fishing, and spending time with all of his grandchildren and young people.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lee Jones of Preston, GA; by a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Ellyn Jones, Jr. and his wife Dawn of Preston, GA; by two daughters, Donna Jones Hudson of Preston, GA, and Dina Jones of Smiths Station, AL; by six grandchildren, Trey Jones (Caitlin), Summer Ratzlaff (Brady), Allison Grimes (Rusty), Cadie Kelley (William), Dale Merritt, and Skyler Mote; and by five great-grandchildren, Brock Jones, Mason Taylor, Weston Kelley, Reed Kelley, and Russ Grimes.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Columbus Memory Center, 7196 North Lake Drive, Suite A. Columbus, GA 31909.
