Mr. Jimmy Rodger Chomo, 65, of Box Springs, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral services will be held at New Life Freewill Baptist Church on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 2:30 PM with Rev. Brian Fuller and Rev. Jimmy Stubbs officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Pallbearers will be Hiram Rodriguez, Toby Horton, Richard Chomo, Kevin Harbuck, Lemuel Harbuck, Michael Chomo and Barney Chomo.
Mr. Chomo was born June 1, 1950 to the late John Joseph Chomo and Gertrude Josephine Huston in Tampa, FL. He attended New Life Freewill Baptist Church. Jimmy loved the outdoors and pretty much anything to do outside, especially gardening, yard work and fishing. He enjoyed visiting the ocean and spending time with his family. Jimmy was a car enthusiast and liked to work on cars and trucks, drive fast when he could and watch NASCAR. He enjoyed driving so much he made it his life’s work, piloting semi-trucks for most of his life.
Survivors include his loving wife, Martha Stubbs Chomo of Box Springs; two daughters, Marcia Rodriguez and her husband, Hiram of Box Springs and Jamie Horton and her husband, Toby of Midland, GA; three brothers, Richard Chomo and his wife, Donna of Box Springs, GA, Michael Chomo of Box Springs, GA and Barney Chomo of Tampa, FL; a sister, Virginia Chomo of Statesville, NC; five grandchildren, Amelia Rodriguez, Aiden Rodriguez, Taylor Horton, Tyler Horton and Tanner Horton; and several nieces and nephews.
