Mr. Jimmy B. Culpepper, Sr., 86, of Buena Vista, GA, passed away Monday, January 22, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Way-Watson Funeral Home, Buena Vista with Rev. David Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in Tazewell Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Marty Brunson, Benny Austin, Erron Austin, Richard Barrett, Johnny Barrett, and David Lane. The family will greet friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Way-Watson Funeral Home, Buena Vista.
Mr. Culpepper was born October 7, 1937, in Cusseta, GA, to James Grover and Annie Esther Morgan Culpepper. He was a jack of all trades and enjoyed indoor and outdoor construction projects. He could fix anything. Mr. Culpepper enjoyed working in his garden and playing the guitar. He retired from Simplex Nail Company as a tool and die maker. After his retirement, he ran Culpepper Manufacturing alongside his wife. Mr. Culpepper loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His favorite family gatherings were the holidays. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Freddie Mae Barrett Culpepper, by his siblings, Mable Forsyth, Frances Austin, Jack Culpepper, and Margaret Culpepper.
Survivors include three children, Debbie Curths and her husband, David of Decatur, AL, Jimmy B. Culpepper, Jr and his companion Andrea Sweeten, and Penny King and her husband, Raymond of Ellerslie, GA; six grandchildren, Lauren Esslinger, Christy Beamon, Jenifer Adkins (John), Kevin Culpepper (Meagan), David Touchton (Kaila) and Daniel King; ten great-grandchildren, Everleigh, Sophia, Oden, Maleiah, Aydin, Chloe, Jase, Liam, Olivia and Oaklynn; his sister-in-law, Faye Lane of Buena Vista, GA; his caretakers, Mae Nell Thomas, Lori Micallef, Stacy Smith, Jessica Caldwell, and Katie Pursley; and by his companions, Piper and Pepper. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
