Jimmy W. Isom, Sr.

Mr. Jimmy W. Isom Sr., 79, of Buena Vista, GA, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on April 11, 2025. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2025, in Tazewell Cemetery at 3:00 PM with Rev. Mark Williams officiating. The family will greet friends at the cemetery beginning at 2:00PM. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Lawhorn, Josh Moxley, Luke Moxley, Cody Moxley, Jason Frost, Kyle Welch, Jace Welch, Kaleb Welch, Klay Welch, and Landry Isom,

Mr. Isom was born January 1, 1946, in Marion County, GA, to Lester and Lila Duncan Isom. He was a 1965 graduate of Marion County High School where he was a star basketball player. Mr. Isom married Janice in 1972, and together they created the J-7 Farm where they broke and trained cutting horses. Mr. Isom was an entrepreneur and ran a fertilizer spreading business as well as a fencing business. He was also a row crop farmer his whole life and is known for having the straightest rows in Georgia. Along with his wife, he raised five children that he loved more than anything and his family was his life. He worked hard for them every day and took pride in that! In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Evelyn Watson, Preston Isom, Beatrice Grimsley, L. T. Isom, Junior Isom, Bobbie Jean Sivell, Jeannette Sivell, and Sara Anthony.

Survivors include his devoted wife, Janice Isom; five children, Jolena Lawhorn (Jason), Jenna Frost (Jason), J. W. “Bo” Isom (Lauren), Jinger Moxley (Josh), and Joanie Welch (Kyle); his loving twin sister, Judy Kirby; nine grandchildren, Luke Moxley, Cody Moxley, Jolie Frost, Lila Jo Lawhorn, Lucy Isom, Jace Welch, Landry Isom, Kaleb Welch, and Klay Welch. Many beloved nieces and nephews also survive.
