JoAnn Walden

Mrs. JoAnn Walden, 85, of Americus passed away at Crisp Regional Hospital on August 5, 2023.  Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Way-Watson Funeral Home in Ellaville on Monday, August 7, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Brian Bentley officiating.  The family will greet friends beginning at 10:00AM until service time.  Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Walden was born February 18, 1938 in East Point, GA to Nathaniel and Lucille Day Bailey.  She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.  Mrs. Walden loved being a wife, mother and especially a grandmother.  She was a selfless person and loved to help others.  Mrs. Walden enjoyed cooking, sewing and spending time with her family.  She was a mother of 3 but a grandmother to many.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Walden and a son, James Gregory Walden.

Survivors include her daughters, Cindy Law (Greg,) and Gayle Grubbs, all of Americus; eight grandchildren, Jason Law (Liz,), Jeremy Law (Wendy,) Jennifer Cromer, Jacque Whited (Adam,) Amanda Storm (Jimmy,) Desiree Smallwood, Jessica Harmon (Allen,) and John Grubbs (Hannah); eleven great-grandchildren, Kayla Stallings (Corey,) Greyson Law, Damian Rodriguez (Gracie,) Caden, Maddox and Dalton Storm, Olivia Whited, Michael Smallwood, Josh Smallwood (Coral,) Dejah Smallwood, Brody Harmon, Colton Harmon, Garrett Harmon and Ivyrea Grubbs; and several nieces and nephews.
