Joe Halstead

ELLAVILLE, GA --- Mr. Joe Halstead, age 61, of Ellaville, GA died Tuesday afternoon, October 2, 2012 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA. A graveside service will be held Friday, October 5, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the Ellaville Cemetery. Dr. Ben Foxworth will officiate.

Mr. Halstead was born April 18, 1951 in Sumter County the son of Christine Eubanks Halstead and Buster Halstead. Mr. Halstead had worked for the Georgia Department of Transportation and for many years worked at the Chevron Gas n Go in Ellaville and ran a lawn care business. He attended Ellaville Baptist Church, he was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and a member of the Ellaville Lions Club. Mr. Halstead was a friend to all that knew him.

Survivors include Shane and Christy Tondee, Shelley Tondee Roderick, Christopher Tondee; two sisters, Doraine Raybon and Shirley Watson and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Halstead was preceded in death by a brother, Dempsey Halstead.

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 4, 2012 from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home.
