John H. (Franklin) Mincey

John H (Franklin) Mincey TRGT (RT), 78, of Lake Blackshear, GA, died Friday, September 20, 2013, at Columbus Hospice in Columbus, GA.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013, at the residence of his son David Mincey, in Buena Vista, GA.

Mr Mincey was born July 1, 1935, in Preston, Ga. He served his country in the United States Air Force. While on active duty, he was stationed in Europe, Asia as well as many assignments in the United States. After retiring he returned to Marion County, GA then moved to Vienna GA where he worked as a salesman most of his life.  He enjoyed being with his friends and family and was an excellent cook. He was on an award winning grilling team and loved to play golf and watch his beloved GA Tech football team.

He is preceded in death by both parents Henry Mincey and Bertha Bearden.  He is survived by his three children Cindy Williams of Columbus, David Mincey (Shannon) of Buena Vista,  and Allister Whipkey (Charley) of Columbus. As well as his grandchildren Jade Kirkland, Lacey Williams, Madison Whipkey, Kody Mincey, Zack Mincey and two great grandchildren Grayden Kirkland and Averie Williams.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Wounded Warriors project.
