Joseph (Joe) Irvin Tidd

     ELLAVILLE, GA --- Mr. Joseph (Joe) Irvin Tidd, 71, died Monday morning, July 14, 2014 at his residence.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at 11:00AM at Ellaville Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Ellaville Cemetery. Rev. John Carr, Rev. Rusty Mauldin and Rev. Ben Foxworth will officiate.  The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. 

      Mr. Tidd was born April 2, 1943 in Americus, GA to Henry Irvin Tidd and Thelma Louise Dillard Tidd.  He worked at Champion Home Builders for 28 years and retired from Mulcoa.  After retirement he worked for Watson-Giddens Funeral Home.   Mr. Tidd was a very active member of Ellaville Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. 

      Survivors include his loving wife, Louise Tidd of Ellaville; two sons, Joey Tidd and Susan of Americus, GA, Johnny Tidd and wife Ramona of Ellaville, GA; three brothers, Henry Tidd and wife Debbie of Wetumpka, AL, Tony Tidd of Tifton, GA, Bruce Tidd and wife Frances of Miami, FL; two sisters, Shirley Wells of Ideal, GA, Emily Chavers and husband, Wesley of Americus, GA. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Geni Leigh Dufresne and husband Danny, Kristin Turner and husband Jeremy, Randi Tidd, Lauren Tidd and John Tidd and eight great grandchildren, Landon Aldridge, Matthew Dufresne, Eva Robinson, Karli Robinson, Noah Turner, Reid Tidd, Jaid Tidd, and Bentley Tidd.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Tidd was preceded in death by his sisters, Venida Layfield and Marilyn Overby.

     Active pallbearers will include Danny Dufresne, Johnny Heath, Jimmy Storey, Bill Welch, Steven Bradley, James Grant, David Wilson, Tommy Layfield and Junior Johnson.  Honorary pallbearers will be the active and inactive deacons of Ellaville Baptist Church and the Willing Workers Sunday School class.

     In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ellaville Baptist Church Future Building Fund, P. O. Box 325, Ellaville, GA  31806 in memory of Mr. Tidd.
