Joseph Henry Nash, 94 of Buena Vista, Georgia, formally of Mishawaka, passed away on Wednesday, August 5th, 2015 at his home.
Joseph was born on June 29th, 1921 in South Bend, IN. to John William and Fredrica [Starlin] Nash. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Myra Jo Stewart; son, Michael Henry Nash; two sisters, Mary Gebhardt and Dorothy Hart and a brother, Jack Nash.
On April 7, 1945 he married the former Myra Nadine Kemp. Surviving are his loving wife, Myra; their children, Melinda Jill Deslauriers of Buena Vista, GA, Patrick Joseph[Cindi] Nash of Mishawaka, Jeffery John [ Teena] Nash of Hartland, WI, James W [Karen] Nash of St. Petersburg, FL and Joseph Carlton Nash of Mishawaka. The family has been blessed with 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Prior to his retirement in 1991, Joseph was very active in both his businesses and the community. He served on various Beauty Boards including the Indiana State Board as President and the American Academy of Cosmetics; being honored as a pioneer in the industry. His business knowledge and savvy lead him to serving on many advisor boards including American Bank, Key Bank and Trust Corp. He was a life long member of the Knights of Columbus, Notre Dame Alumni Association and Little Joe Club. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving proudly during WWII. It was while attending Officers Candidate School at Fort Benning he met the love of his life and wife of 70 years.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 12 from 8:45 am to 9:45 am in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, IN. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am following visitation, in the St. Bavo Catholic Church, Mishawaka with Rev. Vincent Joseph officiating. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend, IN.
