Joy Bunting Eason

Mrs. Joy Bunting Eason, 72, of Buena Vista, Georgia, was called home to tend the flowers in Heaven on November 21, 2022.

Born October 5, 1950 in Columbus, Georgia, to Rev. Grover Sidney and Vera Grier Bunting, Joy and her sisters moved with them to Marion County during her childhood.  She was married to Johnny J. Eason for 50 years and was a devoted mother to their two children. 

Joy enjoyed her flower gardens, cooking for her family, playing the piano, decorating and collecting antiques, shopping with her daughter, and taking trips to Williamsburg and Savannah. She always had a pet and was particularly fond of dachshunds. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Mary Jordan Eason and her mother-in-law, Mary Lessie Eason.

Joy will be deeply missed by her husband, Johnny J. Eason of Buena Vista, Georgia; her daughter and son-in-law, Joley and Neil Steffens, grandsons, Jordan and Keegan, and twin granddaughters, Heidi Joy and Cassidy, all of Carmel, Indiana; her son, Jonas, of Buena Vista, Georgia; her sisters, Brenda Scott, June Fleming, and Amanda Bunting; her sisters-in-law, Mary Dell Gibson (Mike) and Tricia Smith (Merle); and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at New Providence Baptist Church at 11:00 AM with Rev. David Chapman officiating.
