ELLAVILLE, GA—Karen Louise (Horn) Henderson, 72, of Cookeville, Tennessee died Monday, January 16, 2017 at Life Care Center of Sparta.
Mrs. Henderson was born August 21, 1944 in Bay City, Michigan to the late Helen Marie (Meier) and Roy T. Horn. At age 7 the family moved to Kawkawlin, Michigan. She attended TL Handy, Delta College, Michigan State University, and Florida Nova University. Mrs. Henderson was a teacher having taught in Michigan, California and 30 years in Florida. She was an Alpha Delta Kappa (ADK) Silver Sister and belonged to retired teacher organizations. She was a member of Cookeville First United Methodist Church and Backsliders Sunday School class. Mrs. Henderson enjoyed traveling internationally and with the RV domestically. She also enjoyed reading, gardening and scrapbooking her travel adventures.
Survivors include her husband of 33 years, James C. Henderson; daughters, Laura A. Henderson of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Cindy (Jason) Doyle of Elk Grove, California; granddaughter Paige; brother, Robert R. Horn of Bay City, Michigan; nephews, Robert Horn Jr., David Horn and James Horn; nieces, Kathy (Rick) Eichinger, Jean (Steve) Balcer, and their families. And also William and Maxine Stribling of Americus, Georgia and their families. In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by sister in law, Charlene Horn and niece Julie Horn.
Visitation with the family will be held Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Crest Lawn Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm in Cookeville, Tennessee. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 6:00 pm in the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Bro. Whitney Mitchell officiating.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 11:00AM in Ellaville Cemetery in Ellaville, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718 or the Alzheimer's Association, P. O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
