Mrs. Lillian McMichael Miller was born on December 19, 1927, in Buena Vista GA. She was fourth daughter to Lovard and Elizabeth McMichael. She attended school in Buena Vista. In June of 1946, she married William W. “Billy” Miller, of Cusseta, GA, who had just returned from World War II serving in the United States Navy. She and Billy were married for 60 years and had 3 children all who survive her: W. Walter Miller, Jr (Ann), Marguerite M. Murdock (Robert) and Benjamin “Ben” Miller (Pam).
Lillian, or Memaw as her 7 grandchildren: Gilbert Miller (Jamee), Pierce Miller (Becky), Tracy Henry (Justin), Kelly Murdock, Quilly Miller, Bart Miller, Will Miller (Mariana) referred to her, loved having family at her house on Sundays. Whoever showed up was welcome (no invitation needed). She just enjoyed watching children play. She also loved animals, particularly the horses that she watched grazing in the pastures in front of her house. Upon retiring from her job at the Columbus Medical Center, she started gardening in her yard, raising numerous colorful lilies that she was very proud of. She sang in the Methodist Church choir until she was 92 years old. In addition to her parents, Lillian was preceded in death by her sisters Ann, Marguerite and Elizabeth (Toots) and her brother John Robert (Sonny) and her very special son-in-law, Robert Murdock. Along with her children, she is survived by her sister Martha Windham and sister-in-law Justine McMichael. She also leaves 11 great-grandchildren, William, Benjamin, Juliette, Eli, Pierce, Olivia, Abby, Ben, Gray, Drew and her newest, Sophia. Lillian, or Miss Lillian as most referred to her, also cherished her friendship with Quentin Battle (her other son) and Vivian McKee.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Chattahoochee County Historical Society, P. O. Box 2, Cusseta, GA, 31805, or a church of your choice.
