Louise Wells Duke, 94, of Arlington, GA, formerly of Buena Vista, GA, died Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at Pioneer Community Hospital of Early.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 21, 2013, at Buena Vista United Methodist Church with Dr. Keith Cowart, Reverend Linda Gail Thompson, and Reverend Debbie Cone officiating. Burial will follow the service at Buena Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Church one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Mrs. Duke was born September 13, 1918, the daughter of Mike Wells, Sr. and Nellie Highnote Wells. She was a member of Buena Vista United Methodist Church where she was involved in all aspects of the church, even serving as President of the UM Women. She was involved in the “Meals on Wheels” program with the Senior Citizens Center. She was employed as the manager of the Suwannee Store for many years. She lived in Buena Vista most of her life, having moved to her daughter’s residence in Arlington a few years ago.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Julia Lunsford Wells, by her father, Mike Wells, Sr., by her step-mother, Nellie Highnote Wells, by her husband, B. T. Duke, sisters, Ethel Helms, Margie Spears, and Linda Wells, and by two brothers, Glenn Wells and Jimmy Wells.

Mrs. Duke is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Lt. Col. William M. and Carolyn Duke of Morgan Hill, CA; by a daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Chuck Cowart of Arlington, GA; by a brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Deannie Wells, Jr. of Buena Vista, GA; by grandchildren, David and Sally Duke, Mike Duke, Keith and Pam Cowart, Kim and Greg Moore, and Chris and Kim Cowart, and by 7 Great-Grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Buena Vista United Methodist Church.

Watson-Tante Funeral Home of Buena Vista, Georgia, was in charge of these arrangements.
